Rubber Maps

Simplified interstate maps are created by assembling harvested mimosa wood or fabricating plywood panels and then wrapping them with rubber.  Interchange features Atlanta’s nine major highway intersections depicted through the resulting negative space.  Metronesian Chartserves as a 10-foot map of Atlanta’s interstate system featuring over 120 valve stems each representing a specific highway exit.  Undulating folded ruched rubber depict the contour lines of topographic maps of specific areas in Atlanta (Moreland & Dekalb Avenues and Copenhill).
